There is a Red Maple just across the street clinging to
every leaf with a tenacity demonstrated by the absence of leaves on other trees
around it. Perhaps it’s there to remind me of a heart, arguably, the single
most important part of our body. Perhaps it’s there as a gift of color on a
landscape that has become flat, dull and without interest. Whatever the reason,
I go to it often as I look outside. Why not? I can choose what to focus on.
So I choose the red tree.

If I had that tree in my view in autumn, I'd never tear myself away.
